Keith and the cars

Keith LOVES to play with this match box cars and other small cars/trucks. As soon as he wakes in the morning the first thing he asks is "Pay wit cars?" We usually do not let him start playing cars first thing. Usually we have him eat breakfast, and hold off as long as we can because literally, that is the only thing the boy wants to do! Anyway, Keith's "version" of playing with cars is piling them all up in a line, or a row on his little desk. Sometimes he likes to put them all on it and then hurry and push them all off making a HUGE racket! We tell him that he needs to play with cars on the floor, and he will for about 2 whole seconds. We've tried to make "tracks" for him and even have given him things to play with this cars on.... NOTHING is as "good" as playing with the cars on the desk, I guess.

This morning he wanted to play with the cars BAD! I told him he had to wait for daddy to wake up. Our room is right next to Keith's room, and when Keith gets those cars on the desk it often makes loud noises from him crashing them, and stacking them. Keith had already watched Sesame Street, at ate a bowl of cereal. He was READY to play!! I was trying to make breakfast for me (and Kevin...even though he was asleep), so I told Keith he could bring out his cars to the living room. Keith hurried and stacked his 2 car cases on top of each other and tried to carry the WHOLE thing out. He realized it was pretty heavy and said "Help peas?" So, I helped him carry the 2 cases out. He quickly grabbed the few cars that were on the floor out of the cases and brought them to the living room. I seen him lay down on the floor and start to "drive" his cars around. I thought, "YAY!, he's occupied for a few minutes and I can go finish the eggs and sausage!".

I thought I heard a noise in the living room, but I didn't take a peek, and Keith didn't come running to me, so I figured all was fine and proceeded cooking.

A few minutes later, I walked into the dining room and seen what Keith had done. I couldn't stop laughing, instantly!

Keith carried the entire desk out to the living room so he could pile his cars on it!!

I just can't stop laughing!

Obviously, Keith found a nice solution, BUT have you seen those cute area rugs with little roads on them?

Here's a link to 1 example:

Perhaps you could do something like that to silence the playtime.
